Chilling out this Chinese New Year

I've been spending this brief Chinese New Year break we've had back home in Ipoh with the family. Meet Waffle. She's my favourite bit of our my Ipoh home.

The Delectable store has been closed for the first and second day of the new year and it was a nice opportunity for us elves to celebrate the festivities!
We've been spending some quiet time at home this year and i think many have opted to do the same as well. I read on the papers that most Malaysians have gone abroad this Chinese New year season; it does feel less lively than the festive moods from years before.

SupER DUPER yumMY Lamb chop marinade. (good for 6-8 chops)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp coarsely ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp strong english/french mustard
  • a sprinkle of flake sea salt
  • 3 cloves garlic finely diced
The trick is to massage this well into the meat and allow to sit in the refrigerator for at least 1/2 a day before grilling/barbecuing. These can also be quickly flipped on a hot non stick pan.

While mom meddled with chops; i made a quick mash potato and pressed it into a baking dish. Sprinkle a good handful of Parmesan cheese over this and sprinkle with sliced onions + a dash of herbs. Bake the mash in the oven till top turns golden and deliciously crusty. So so.. good...

Adios! Su's having a busy busy month.
Can't complain! hehe.. will keep everyone posted with more cakes soon~

xo!
